Apple has just released iPhoto 9.1.5 and has continued its trend towards dull grey icons, which I really don’t like. So I’ve bundled up the coloured icons from 9.1.4 and simple instructions for their installation. Someday I might automate the installation, but for now it’s just a manual copy (and authenticate).
Update 2012-01-22: I’ve tested this in iPhoto 9.2.1 and it seems to be working fine.
Update 2012-05-08: I’ve tested this in iPhoto 9.2.3 and it seems to be working fine.

Thx,

Nice job, though the icons from iLife ’09 would have been better. The icons in early ’11 were just too much! Perhaps this is what Apple had intended — for us to hate the original ’11 icons so that the ‘dull grey’ ones for this and other Lion apps were more palatable.

Thanks a lot!
Is there any chance to add photo stream (for RECENT) and facebook (for WEB)? I tried to find them manually in the resources folder and was able to find the grey photo stream one, but not the fb.
Regards,
Filip

Great tip, works like a charm, also on OS X Lion!

It’s been a while since I looked but I was sure I got everything I could. Maybe FaceBook and Photo Stream were not available in the previous version of iPhoto.

Hey! Does it work with 9.2.6??
cuz I was trying to do it on my iPhoto and when I compare the downloaded folder,
and my resources folder they do not match,..
Do you want me to just put the icon folder into my resources folder?
Thank you!!!!

It works for me in iPhoto 9.2.1. What you need to do is put the *contents* of the downloaded icons folder into the Resources folder. The folder called “icons” does not move into the app.

I’ve tried what Craig wrote on 22/1/12 and this worked. Thanks for providing these to restore the colour icons.

Any change for Aperture to get its color back?

I don’t know. I haven’t got Aperture so I haven’t looked.
